Nestled in the heart of the Chugach Mountains on the shores of Prince William Sound, Valdez is the most northern ice-free port in the Northern Hemisphere. It became the “all-American route” to the gold fields of the Klondike Gold Rush in 1898.The community of 4,200 is now home to the Trans-Alaska Pipeline Marine Terminal.
